Wild Thing was missing. It was dark, and the big dogs were barking their heads off out in the front. I took a flashlight out and skimmed under the house, told McKenzie, "I found her!" Then took a closer look (with this really old amber glow flashlight) and thought she was a reddish fox.
Thank goodness the gun was in two parts, or I would have shot the girl! We thought the fox had Wild Thing under there. As it happened, I resorted to a broomstick. All the dogs were in a frenzy as I bashed it around under the house yelling,"Get it! Get it!"
Wild Thing came trotting around the corner, under the kitchen window box, having burrowed all the way to the other side. McKenzie said this kind of thing always happened when she had wet nail polish. But we hugged that girl so hard, and hugged each other. Actually she was smushed in between us!
